Residency presentation of Våra hundar/Illusionism and Dogs
Tova Gerge and Britta Kiessling show material from a new and ongoing process through a choreographic and spatial study of people’s relationships with (fantasy) dogs. They are interested in the dog and the dog owner, not so much as an actual dog/master, but as an identification, story and projection surface. They are also interested in synchronicit, herd, aggression and unpredictability.
After working two week at Köttinspektionen, they would like to share and meet other voices.
The presentation lasts a maximum of half an hour. Afterwards there is the opportunity to stay and talk to the artists about the work.
Residency through Open call
Since 2016 Köttinspektionen Dans has presented a variety of choreographic practices, performances and interventions that experiment, in different ways, with dance and choreography as an art form, and as politics and relations. During two weeks in June 2021, we offer a residency to a dancer or choreographer, individual or group, to work at Köttinspektionen.
After receiving 40 applications, a decision was made 23rd of March to invite Tova Gerge and Britta Kiessling to Köttinspektionen in June 2021. The selection procedure this year favored a work that are in an experimental phase, that introduce a new acquaintance to Köttinspektionen, and that suites the practical conditions of the premises.
Tova Gerge and Britta Kiessling
Tova Gerge and Britta Kiessling have worked with discipline, power and polarity before in different ways, but also with relationships, tenderness and love: in short, practices where the duality of being close to others becomes visible. Within the frame of this residency, they pursue these themes through a choreographic as well as spacial exploration of people’s relationships with (fantasy) dogs. Inom ramen för residenset arbetar de vidare med dessa teman genom en koreografisk och rumslig undersökning av människors relationer till (fantasi-)hundar som en sådan praktik. They are interested in the dog and the master, not so much as an actual dog/master, but as an identification point, story and projection surface. If the work process and the pandemia allows, there will be a residency sharing at the end of the period, more about this will be updated in June.
